“I designed the Digital Color Postmark (DCP) at the same time I designed the Inaugural Folio, and I wanted them to work together. One idea was to create a seal for the front of the Inaugural Folio that would reflect the Great Seal of the United States.
“The Great Seal has various government applications, including how it has been modified to create the Seal of the President of the United States. We decided to take the same approach.
“I redrew the eagle with olive branch and arrows but kept colors inspired by the presidential seal. Similar to the presidential seal, I added a ring of stars. All the information you need for the DCP is contained in the actual circle, which is where the presidential information usually appears.”
