As a kitten, Willow was left in a box outside an animal welfare society in Connecticut. The manager remembered a local animal-control officer who had mentioned that she wanted a gray kitten. So Willow found a “forever” home – with two other cats and three canine siblings.
Bianca was brought to an animal welfare society after being hit by a car. In addition to her injuries, the veterinarian discovered cancer and realized that she needed to have a toe amputated. She was adopted through a senior-to-senior program that allows older cats to be adopted by senior citizens at no cost, and was cared for with love during her final years.
Peaches was born under a porch and classified as a wild kitten. Once she was trapped and brought to an animal welfare society, she became domesticated quickly. She now travels with her new family back and forth from Manhattan to their country home in Connecticut.
When Frankie’s family (mother and two siblings) was brought to the shelter, they were all quite sick – and only Frankie survived. He loves his new adoptive family, which includes two children, three dogs, a cat, a parrot and chickens.
Lucas was brought to an animal welfare society in Connecticut after wandering into the yard of a shelter volunteer. He was adopted by a family with four children. In his new family, he chooses a different child’s bed to sleep in each night and often has bedtime stories read to him.
Teddy was born on Christmas Day to a family that hadn’t planned on welcoming a litter of puppies into their home for the holidays. An animal welfare society helped the owners find homes for all of the puppies. Although Teddy has a serious heart ailment, it doesn’t slow him down. He leads a happy life with a family that includes another Jack Russell and a cat.
A Good Samaritan found Trevor and his six littermates at a construction site in rural Georgia. At 10 weeks, the litter was transported to a foster home in Connecticut. Soon after, all seven puppies found “forever” homes. Trevor now weighs 120 pounds and spends his days romping through his yard or the nearby state park.
A family purchased Buddy from a pet store as a puppy and kept him in a crate for long periods of time, which caused a genetic problem with his hips to worsen quickly. When Buddy was 8 months old, the family turned him over to an animal-control facility, where one of the officers adopted him. Now Buddy plays happily in his new family – with three other rescued pets and two little girls – where he gets plenty of exercise.
Jake was born in a puppy mill in Missouri and was purchased from a pet store at 8 weeks old. His owners quickly realized they were too busy for a puppy, so they turned him over to an animal-control agency. In the first 10 weeks of his life, Jake was housed in six different locations, but it didn’t take long before he found his “forever” home in Connecticut.

These days, Bindi Su loves to compete in agility events and dock-diving competitions. She also makes weekly visits to a local nursing home, where she puts on an agility and trick show once a year.
