William J. Gicker
A native of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, William J. Gicker attended West Chester University, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and minors in Russian and Film Criticism, as well as additional studies in photography and women’s studies. By January 1997, Gicker had moved to Washington, D.C., where the following year, he began working at the U.S. Postal Service as assistant editor of USA Philatelic, the quarterly catalog produced by Stamp Services. Today, Gicker serves as Creative Director for the stamp program and as editor of USA Philatelic. Among his favorite creative projects are the Star Wars stamps, where he shared art-director responsibility with Terry McCaffrey, and the relationships generated with artist Peter Emmerich and designer David Pacheco during the five issuances of the Disney series.
