Steve McCracken
Steve McCracken, a native of Richmond, VA, is a freelance illustrator and designer who describes himself as a digital artist. From his studio in Winchester, Virginia, he produces much of his work on a Macintosh computer. A former feature artist for The Miami Herald and The Virginian-Pilot newspapers, McCracken taught illustration at Washington’s Corcoran College of Art and Design for several years.
McCracken’s work is represented in the Society of Illustrators Annual. He has been awarded six gold medals by the Society of Newspaper Design. Clients have included The Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, National Geographic magazine, and a variety of trade magazines. His designs for the Postal Service include four stamps in the Circus issuance in 1993, the 2001 stamped envelope honoring community colleges, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games stamp.
