Michael J. Deas
Award-winning artist Michael J. Deas is well-known for his stamp images which have been honored by the Society of Illustrators with five medals, including two gold awards for James Dean (Legends of Hollywood 1996), and Thornton Wilder (Literary Arts 1997). Recent stamp artwork by Deas includes Ronald Reagan (2005), Gerald R. Ford (2007), Bette Davis (2008), Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (2008), and Edgar Allan Poe (2009).
Deas was one of seven contemporary illustrators featured in an exhibit entitled “Visual Solutions—Seven Illustrators and the Creative Process” at The Norman Rockwell Museum at Stockbridge in Massachusetts (November 1998-May 1999). He was also the subject of an article in Communications Arts (September/October 1998 issue). Clients have included Columbia Pictures, Reader’s Digest, Random House, Chiat/Day, and a number of advertising agencies.
