Lisa Catalone-Castro

Lisa Catalone-Castro, who was born in Oswego, New York, graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1993 with a concentration in graphic design and a love of typography. A member of the graphic arts community in Washington, D.C., for the last 15 years, Catalone-Castro has served on the executive board of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and as an adjunct professor at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. In 1997 she founded Catalone Design Co., in Bethesda, Maryland, and today serves as the company’s president. Catalone Design has helped companies and schools develop strong identities by providing expert consultation and graphic design for view books, brochures, logos, annual reports, magazines, and Web sites. Clients include the Global Fund for Children, the Arca Foundation, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the National Gallery of Art, the Embassy of France, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and many of the top schools in the Washington metropolitan area. Among the many honors received by Catalone Design include recognition by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the American Association of Museums, Graphis, Printing Industries of America, Inc., and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Prior to the four Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States stamps issued in 2009—co-designed with her husband and business partner Rodolfo Castro-Catalone—Castro’s Love Letters stamp designs were featured as part of the U.S. Postal Service’s Love series in 2001.
