Craig Frazier

Mill Valley CA

Born into a military family in 1955, Craig Frazier graduated from California State University in Chico with a degree in visual communications. By 1980 he had established his own design firm in San Francisco and was producing award-winning work — trademarks, brochures, annual reports, posters, and advertising — for corporate clients such as Steelcase, LucasArts, Herman Miller, Nestlé, and Kia Motors.

After 18 successful years in graphic design, Frazier began to dream of becoming an illustrator when, in his words, “he couldn’t find the Craig” in his work. In 1996, he closed his design firm and opened a studio in Mill Valley, CA, where he works in the company of an assistant, a guitar, and the requisite computer and drawing table. Today, this graphic-designer-turned-illustrator counts among his many clients The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, Citigroup, Deloitte & Touche, International Paper, the U.S. Postal Service, and Chevrolet. Recently, Frazier has taken his graphic storytelling into the world of animation, creating 90-second films that delight and engage the viewer.

Frazier’s designs for the Postal Service include the 2006 Love series stamp, True Blue; the 2010 Scouting stamp, the 2011 Patriotic Quill and Inkwell stamp, and the 2012 Celebrate Scouting stamp.
